Beginning, Slowly

Updated: Jun 26

Welcome!

To start this blog off, let me tell you a little something about myself. I spend quite a bit of time feeling like my mind is a crowded room full of half-formed ideas. In today's social landscape, we're constantly inundated with breaking news, push notifications, online personalities pushing multi-step programs for health, wealth, and personal optimization—all of it fighting for every ounce of our attention. Meanwhile, the ideas that matter—from the books we've read, or the talks we listened to—struggle to take root in what remains of our headspace.

At least that's how it feels to me.

This blog is my way of clearing space—giving my thoughts somewhere to land, grow, and maybe even connect. Sometimes I'll write about the work I and others are doing to understand our oceans and climate. Sometimes I'll write about how I do this work more efficiently and with less distraction. Sometimes I'll write about the books I'm reading, or the hobby that's snagged my attention, or the music I'm listening to—whatever, really. Nothing polished or perfect. Just honest and real.

I want to slow down, pay closer attention, and make better sense of the world and my place in it. If you’re here looking for the same thing, then let me repeat: welcome.

This is just the beginning.
